Top 5 tips for buying boots online

Top 5 tips for buying boots online

Here’s our beginner’s guide to buying boots online, from choosing the right style, to help finding your fit.

In this day and age, we’re all fairly au fait with online shopping. But there are some things that we may feel less confident about buying online.

However, when it comes to buying boots, this needn’t be the case. Our years of experience and expertise can really help – especially if you follow our top 5 tips!

1. Choosing the colour

Often one of the first things we decide on is which colour boots we’d like. Typically, most of us tend to be drawn to either black or brown boots as these are the safest and most versatile colours which go with almost everything. There are so many other colours to choose from though, and no, you don’t have to opt for an ‘out there’ colour if you’re thinking of changing things up. Here are our top picks for some easy-to-wear alternatives:

Black ankle boots

Metallic ankle boots

Navy boots

Of course, for those really lovely transitional colours, you can’t beat the classic brown and black boots, but why not add a bit of texture such as mock croc, lizard texture or suede?

2. Choosing your style

The great thing about boots is their versatility. In fact you can probably find a boot to take you anywhere, from walking the dog to a night out on the town. Here are a few things to consider when making your choice:

Heel Height

If you’re thinking of buying boots for a more formal occasion, then you may want to opt for high-heeled boots. For work, a mid-heel might offer the smart look as well as comfort for when you’re running around. However if you’re after a more casual or chunky-soled look, then a flat-heeled option is best.

Boot height

The height of your boot can make all the difference to an outfit. Ankle boots offer flexibility for all year round style. For a statement piece, you can’t beat an over-the-knee boot to pair with a vintage dress or jeans. Then you have the trusty knee-high boot for almost any occasion.

Ankle cut

The ankle cut of a boot can really help with the comfort and fit. Whether your ankle is straight or narrow, have a think about the look you are going for. We offer boots which provide a slim fit for a smart look or a looser fit for a more relaxed feel. Choosing your ankle cut is just one of the things that makes DuoBoots stand out from the crowd.

Toe shape

Time to look at toe shapes. This small feature can really change the look of a boot. Round or square...pointed or almond – the choice is yours!

3. Find the right fit for your calves!

It’s one things finding boots in the right shoe size, but many shoppers don’t know their calf size, so struggle to find boots that fit their calves. Some retailers out there do offer boots for wider or narrower calves, but the choice is limited across their styles. At DuoBoots, we offer one of the widest ranges of calf sizes across all our styles!

To ensure you find the best fit for your legs, take a look at our range of calf-fitting boots. Not sure what your calf size is? No problem! Visit our fit guide where you can also request a free tape measure to be sent out to you.

4. Find the right fit for your calves!

So...you’ve chosen a boot that seems just right for you. Surely all there’s left to do now is hit ‘checkout’?

Well, a little reassurance never goes amiss, which is why we feature extra fit notes on every style. This section of the product page will give you all subtle but important details about each style. For instance, if your foot is a half size, should you go up or down a size? Or what’s the average height of the boot? Here’s where you can find all this advice and more.

It’s easy to find a pair of boots on the high street, but when it comes to quality, the difference is clear.
