Writer, podcaster and unapologetic style voice, Billie Bhatia is known for championing body inclusivity while bringing a confident, playful energy to everything she wears. Whether she’s sitting front row at fashion week or recording her SPILL podcast, her wardrobe balances statement dressing with everyday ease.

We caught up with Billie to talk style rules, podcast beginnings and her DuoBoots favourites – along with the pop-culture moments, Nashville daydreams and the best advice she’d give to someone buying their first pair of DuoBoots.

If boots could talk, what would yours say about your week so far?

First, they would probably be eye-rolling at me for the amount of over-commitment; it’s one of my many toxic traits. The second eye-roll would come when they see the amount of stuff I take on a day out with me, and third, they would probably say I need to lengthen my strides if we plan on running around London.

How did SPILL podcast come about?

Sasha and I have known each other almost our whole lives. We met at primary school and our families fused together through our friendship, so it’s hard for me to remember a time when the Pallari’s haven’t been present. We have been so lucky in our friendship that it was never demanding – there were periods of our lives where we didn’t speak as much, but when we did, it was like no time had passed.

Our friendship has always been easy, we are so different in so many ways, but we have always been there for one another in the good and bad times, in the way family would be, and realised that maybe other people would benefit from the kind of conversations we were having too – about life in our 20s and 30s, and the real, honest, truth of it all. So SPILL was born, and we have been bickering on mics ever since.

You have 24 hours in Nashville… where are you going, who are you taking, and what are you wearing?

The dream! I’m going bar hopping down Broadway, in my Saffron knee-high boots, a sundress and a cowboy hat. I am taking all my girls with me (Sasha included), we are stopping off for fried chicken mid bar crawl, and piling in Bastion (conveniently right next to Soho House Nashville) for late-night margaritas and the best pulled pork nachos.

You’ve just won a lifetime achievement award – what’s the headline, and what boots are you wearing to accept it?

I would love to be that good a writer that I had the potential for a Pulitzer Prize, but that is sadly wholly unrealistic. So my realistic lifetime achievement award would either be to make every conversation somehow route back to racket sports, or my daily consumption of chilli oil – both are quite impressive to be honest.

I’ll be wearing my tan suede Gwens to collect this award, just in case they hand me a racket and ask me to hit a couple of balls.

What’s one pop-culture moment that lives rent-free in your head?

So many. Too many. Ben Affleck smoking a cigarette outside his house I think about most days. I accidentally made a pop-culture moment of my own when, as a joke, I started a fan account about the chain necklace that featured in Normal People, and I suppose that lives rent-free because I still get DM’s daily asking whether I am actually Paul Mescal.

Where’s your go-to hidden gem for shopping in the UK – the kind of place you almost don’t want to share?

It’s not that hidden, but Mount Street is my favourite shopping street. The selection of stores is beautiful, you can just amble along and peek inside, make a virtual wishlist if you were shopping with Monopoly money and then stop in at The George for a pint on your way home.

Curve calf sizing is a game-changer. What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone shopping for their first pair of DuoBoots?

The calf-sizing at DuoBoots is just chef’s kiss. I have never worn a pair of boots that fit me as brilliantly as these. My advice is to follow the instructions on site – measure both calves, sitting down and don’t guestimate because you will have one dominant calf, and one smaller calf, and it’s important to know the size down to the mm.

What’s one trend you swore you’d never try… until social media convinced you otherwise?

Red. I really didn’t think it was my colour at all, far too bright, far too primary for me to get on board. Until I saw Instagram’s most stylish weaving elements of red into their looks, whether that be via an accessory or a knit, and frankly, I’m sold.
