- You are a lifestyle guru, and we can’t get enough of your personal blog ‘Thankfifi’. Where do you get your inspiration for the site and what’s on your radar for AW23?
Thankfifi has always been a reflection of my life at that moment so, honestly, I share whatever I fancy, whatever feels relevant. The main focus for 2023 is my home (as we undertake an extension and way more DIY than I am comfortable with), travel and fashion-capsule pieces and what's worth investing in.
- You turned 41 this year and embracing style in your 40s has strongly influenced the content you post. How would you say your style has evolved in your 40s compared to the previous decade?
In a nutshell, I feel like I get it now. I know my style (think slightly bohemian, retro, French) and I know my shape and I'm good with both. I am only interested in quality pieces that go the distance and I am not shy of shopping preloved either to tick those boxes within my budget.
- We’re all about ageless style here at DuoBoots, but do you have any tips for women turning a decade older who might be feeling unsure of their style
I think it can be very useful to go through your wardrobe and pull out the pieces you feel great in. Start there and build around them. Re-home anything that no longer fits your shape or style - let someone else love those pieces. If you need some inspiration take a look at who you follow on Instagram and see what they have in common - what do you love about their style? Gone are the days when there was this pressure to have something new for every event or occasion - I want to be that lady with the signature style, a capsule built of quality pieces and a dog under my arm.
- Investment pieces and wardrobe longevity is a topic that is important to you. What five items are a must-have in your capsule wardrobe that are worth paying a little extra for?
- A great coat you will wear year after year
- A good pair of boots - I want leather lining, a manageable heel and a good fit - something that works with jeans and dresses alike (the western styles are my all time favourite)
- Leather leggings - October through March mine are glued to my legs - chic and practical
- A signature bag - a good bag works all year round and is a great place to invest because, if you look after them well, they can last forever
- A neck scarf - slight curve ball here but I truly don't think you need to spend a lot of money on a neck scarf (although of course you can) but I have a few and just wear them all the time
- What does being a #DuoWoman mean to you?
Embracing my own style and sense of self and, obviously, great boots - I've worn DuoBoots for years now and truly love them - there's nothing quite like a custom fit
