Denim, prairie dresses, checks, and tassels; the SS18 catwalks shouted ‘Western!’ loud and clear! This key trend is here to stay and with the line up of celebrities wearing Western styling, it seems to be everywhere this season!

The current iteration of “cowgirl” has a more polished feel than we’ve seen in previous seasons, with clean lines and luxe fabrics sitting alongside the laidback looks we’ve come to expect from this trend.

Ready to Go West?

When choosing a colour, it’s not only about muted tones; brights work too. We especially love this season’s bold reds! If head to toe colour isn’t your thing, add bright accessories like a bag or neckerchief.

When it comes to detailing, think fringing... whether it’s on your jacket, bag or skirt (but not all three!) We also love to see feminine embroidery on pretty white tops and frilled dresses. When choosing fabric this season, satin and silk give a luxe edge to the trend.

The All-Important Accessories!

While the cowboy hat is not compulsory (anything that reminds you of your fancy dress box should stay back at the ranch!), adding a Western style belt in black or brown is an easy way to channel the trend. A silver buckle will break up a double denim look with a tough edge. Raffia bags are also a great addition to denim and boho dresses alike. Another fail-safe way to pare it back is to simply feature the Western trend through your footwear; a pair of boots or ankle boots complement dresses, skirts or jeans.

Wanted: (Subtle) Western Looks

Build a glamorous look around our Texas pull on ankle boots - the angular heel gives a subtle nod to the cowboy boot and the gleaming Rose Gold Leather makes them a real showstopper. Pair with a pleated skirt and pretty prairie top.

Again featuring directional, angular heels, our Buell ankle boots have a flash of metallic leather for a luxe edge. Perfect to pair with black and white, add a red bag for a splash of colour. Don’t forget the neckerchief!

Phoenix knee-high boots in Black Nubuck are a great partner for double denim. Wear with a gingham dress, leather jacket and bright accessories for a feminine look with an edge.

If all that’s got you chomping at the bit, you’ll be pleased to know the trend is set to continue into the autumn, so saddle up and get ahead with a pair of boots you’ll want to wear all year!
