As we continue on our mission to be more transparent, we thought sharing more information about our factories would be a welcome topic of conversation.
In the past, DuoBoots has shared information about their factories, but it has always been brief to say the least. Now, as a new company, we want to build on this. If you have read our launch blog, you will know this already, but we are proud to say we have maintained relations with the factories being used previously, and are continuing to support them as they support us.
We have condensed the information into key points, so here goes...
-Your beautifully fitting boots are designed in Somerset and manufactured in Porto, Portugal, in a small handful of factories.
-We work with more than one factory to utilise their individual strengths. This also allows us to support more than one small business.
-The factories are artisan. This term is used a lot these days, so to clarify what we mean by it, we mean they specialise in footwear. They only make footwear in small runs, or batches if you prefer, focussing on the detail and craft.
-The factories are family run. They have been passed down through generations and you will find every adult in the family working there, as they teach the next generation their unique craft.
-The factories are capable of producing timeless classics as well as bold, trend led styles, so keep an eye out for such limited edition designs in the coming months.
-Our team here maintains a close relationship with the factories, always catching up on the phone. A visit to Porto is one the cards as soon as it is safe to travel again, and they are set to become a regular occurrence.
-By visiting the factories we are able to see the boots being made from start to finish and ensure the quality matches up to our standards.
-Visits also mean we can really see where our boots being made- we go in and meet the workers, see the conditions in which they are working and be sure we are supporting a business which values its staff.
So there you have it. We hope this has given you a further insight into where your DuoBoots are made. In such unprecedented times we think it's important we continue to support such niche factories. We need them just as much as they need us, and this mutual respect and admiration for the niche skill of one another is what has brought you such beautiful boots.
As mentioned, when it is safe to travel again our team will be visiting the factories, so sit tight for more content on the matter.
