Fly me to the dunes …our guide to this season’s desert hues trend

As things heat up, why not tone things down by embracing the desert trend this year.

Whether it’s on the catwalks, in the shops or in our wardrobe, the summer months often go hand in hand with the desert trend. Tan, cream and khaki colours crop up everywhere!

And it’s no different this summer. The desert trend is one of our seasonal favourites, so our experts jumped at the chance to put together this handy guide on a summer classic, plus some tips on how to style with your favourite boots by DuoBoots!

Choose your texture

When it comes to textures, light is right. From silks, to lace and cotton – you want to ensure it’s breathable and easy to wear in the heat. However, if there is a chill (especially if you live in the UK!) then look at suede or nubuck for jackets, handbags and shoes.

Find your shape

So, we’re sorted on the textures, but what sort of shapes and silhouettes should we be aiming for? It’s all about draping and layering – and certainly no stiff structured shapes. However, if you want to add some shape to your outfit, using a belt to cinch in at the waist if a great way to do this.

Pick a colour...

This is the easy bit – stick to desert hues! Tan, khaki, creams, even chocolate brown! Of course, if you want to add something special to an outfit, animal prints and metallic accessories will do the trick.
