BEST FEMALE ACTS - to look out for at the Edinburgh Festival

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival gets underway on Friday 4th August and runs until Monday 28th August 2017. As always the festival has an eclectic programme of comedy, theatre and dance and this year’s event promises to be extra special for its 70th anniversary!

Comedy is a typically male-dominated industry, so we’d like to shine the spotlight on some amazing female acts to keep an eye out for this year....

Sh!t Theatre: DollyWould

Summerhall - Aug 2, 4-20, 22-27

Fresh from their performance at Latitude Festival, the 2016 Fringe First winners, Sh!t Theatre, are back for another year. Louise Mothersole and Rebecca Biscuit - self-confessed Dolly fans - tell the story of Dolly entering a Dolly Parton drag lookalike competition...and losing!

Talawa and Soho theatres: Half Breed

Assembly George Square - Aug - 3-27

Talawa is the UK’s primary Black led touring theatre company. Half Breed is a dark comedy written and performed by Natasha Marshall - she tells an autobiographical story about dealing with casual racism growing up as a mixed-race girl in a small village.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge - DryWrite and Soho Theatre in association with Underbelly: Fleabag

George Square - Aug 21-27

DryWrite and Soho Theatre's multi award-winning, top reviewed “Fleabag” inspired the popular BBC comedy about a young woman’s life in London. Back in Edinburgh for another year!
